Aston Martin Unveils New 1-of-38 Valiant With A V12 And Manual Transmission
Aston Martin’s V12 returns… valiantly.
It’s no secret that the V12 is a dying breed in the automotive world. The performance, sound, and driving character it contributes to some of the world’s greatest cars is dwindling, but Aston Martin is one of the few manufacturers that still remain committed to preserving and celebrating the V12 and its wonders as a powertrain. With special editions like the DBS 770 Ultimate and V12 Vantage seeming to send the V12 off, Aston Martin recently revealed a new V12 engine, redesigned with an incredible 824 horsepower and 738 lb/ft of torque, teasing a new era of ultra-exclusive V12-powered machines.
However, Aston Martin has revealed a different, strictly limited V12 creation based on a personal commission from Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin’s Formula 1 racing driver. Called the Valiant, the new V12 Aston Martin is limited to just 38 examples. The 5.2-liter engine in the Valiant makes 735 horsepower, which is sent through a six-speed manual transmission, making it a purist’s V12 driver’s car.
Created by Q, Aston Martin’s bespoke division, the Valiant is not just rare, but each example will be created with incredible personalization and exquisitely crafted details. However, the Valiant is a formidable high-performance vehicle with more than just immense V12 power and a manual transmission to boast. The Valiant features a bespoke chassis specification with Multimatic ASV dampers and recalibrated electronics for on-track excellence, along with carbon fiber bodywork, a racing-focused interior, a 3D-printed rear subframe, lightweight 21-inch magnesium wheels, and a design that features cutting-edge aerodynamics, and a modern reimagination of the ‘Muncher’ Le Mans race car.
The interior is an ode to Aston Martin’s long history in the performance car world and also an ode to purists’ driver’s cars, with a cutaway in the transmission tunnel showing the gear linkage connecting the shifter to the six-speed transaxle, a built-in half-cage, Recaro Podium seats with upholstery in either Alcantara or semi-aniline leather, and more. Deliveries are set to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024, with the public debut of the car to take place at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Taking on the historic Hillclimb as part of the event, the new Aston Martin Valiant with a manual transmission and V12 engine is poised to be a beautiful celebration of the manufacturer’s rich 110-year history.
